Answers to Your Questions...

What is ADHD Coaching?

When you hire an ADHD life coach, what you get is a consultant who is also an expert in ADHD. Some athletic coaches are experts in football, golf, or basketball; I'm an expert in ADHD.

Who has ADD | ADHD?

According to epidemiological data, anywhere from 6% to 10% of the U.S. population has ADHD.  It is NOT limited to children.  Approximately 50–60+% of the children with ADHD will continue to have significant problems with ADHD symptoms and behaviors, as adults, that will impact their lives on the job, within their families, and in social relationships.

What is the ADHD client/coach relationship like?

Coaching is a relationship that focuses on you.  My job is to find out more about you.  As your coach I am available for unscheduled calls, e-mails, and scheduled meetings. These interactions may be used to give you a nudge, offer support, or present tools that will help you along your journey.

Our client/coach relationship will include requests for you to do something, and you have the ability to say "Yes," "No," or "Maybe."  You are 100% in charge of your coaching relationship.

Why Have Me On Your Team?

When you hire me as your life coach, you get:

  • An investigator that works with you to find out how ADHD shows up and impacts your life specifically.
  • A guide to lead you through exploring different tools, structures, and skill sets to find out what works well for you.
  • Someone who endeavors to find a work-around and/or accommodation that you can leverage.

I am always on your side, advocating for you, holding you accountable, and encouraging you to move toward living up to your potential.

How does ADD or ADHD coaching take place?

Our coaching sessions can take place in person, via telephone or via e-mail.  This is directed by you; however, with my travel schedule phone calls are usually the most productive means of communication with my clients.  I've found that this option provides you with the most flexibility to be in session quickly. We can supplement these sessions with e-mails or you may opt to sign up for the e-mail nuggets here on this site.  Again, you are 100% in charge of your coaching sessions, and we can work on programs that will help you achieve your goals.

How do the frequency of sessions and fees for coaching work?

Our coaching relationship will be unique.  After our intake process, you may decide you want coaching once a month or you may decide to have sessions several times per week.  Occasionally you may want coaching 5 days per week. The frequency is developed between you and me in terms of your goals, challenges, schedule, and budget.

YOur support services start as low as $47 per month (Click HERE for information about our monthly "ADHD in the Workplace" Forum) and go up to $500 and include a collection of support, services, and tools that are customized around your goals, challenges, schedule, and dreams.

What types of people have Life Coaches?

People from all walks of life work with professional Coaches to help attain their goals. Life Coaches work with people in all areas of their life including relationships, career, finance, health and more. Working with a personal Coach is not limited to any type of person, but is best for those who want to take initiative in their own life. People who get a Life Coach are committed to a more fulfilled life and are willing to do the work needed to get there.

The results will vary depending on what brings you to a Life Coach. If you get a Life Coach to help you out professionally, life coaching can help you make your current job more gratifying, gain better focus on managing your work, and market your self more effectively. If your reasons are personal, you can find a life coach to help you improve your relationships, resolve ongoing negative behaviors, improve your overall health, and grow spirituality. With life coaching you can live a more balanced and enhanced life, and make your dreams come true!

What happens in a Life Coaching Session?

Each session is tailored to the individuals involved, whether in a one-on-one or group setting and will vary based on individual needs. In the beginning, we will discuss what you are committed to accomplishing through our work together and we will begin to create a plan to achieve your goals. Periodically, I will give you assignments to help direct your progress. We will work together to acknowledge obstacles, explore alternate perspectives and celebrate successes. With the conclusion of each session, we will revisit your goals and evaluate the next steps that are needed to achieve these results.

Do I really need a personal Coach, can't I just do it by myself?

Life coaching can take you above and beyond your own personal limitations. More often than not, people try to achieve their greatest potential, but don’t even realize what stands in their way. A personal Coach can offer an unbiased and objective perspective, and can help you realize your patterns and habits. Most people experience that they are more efficient when working with a Professional Life Coach and that this provides the opportunity for them to better realize their potential. Life coaching can make your dreams attainable and will give you support and encouragement along the way.

How is Coaching different from Therapy?

While the life coaching I provide can be therapeutic, it is not therapy. Coaching is distinct from traditional therapy because it is not designed to address psychological issues. While emotional issues may arise, the primary focus of life coaching is to help you identify your goals, achieve them, and develop constructive habits and skills. There is little emphasis placed on the past with coaching, but instead the focus is on creating what you want now and in the future.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require a 25 (twenty five) hour notice to cancel all sessions. Please be sure to contact me if you will not be able to make your scheduled appointment in order to avoid being charged for the session.

How long do people generally work with a Life Coach?

To experience the effectiveness of a life coaching program, I suggest clients who are not yet clear of their goals or which program is right for them to make an initial one-month commitment. Before the end of the month, we will evaluate progress and discuss options for continued progress.

Is personal life coaching confidential?

What we discuss will be held in confidence and not shared with others. Personally identifiable information is not shared.  If required by law, under subpoena, the information required by law would be shared.   After two decades of working with people in a confidential manner, to date, nothing has yet occurred that required personally identifiable information to be shared.  That said, life coaching is a confidential process, and your personal information will always be protected.
